A large but not too heavy instrument by Larry Gurruwiwi.
The sound is just as big. With a good amount of bass you will be able to fill the room and make it shake! Yet the mid and high frequencies are also clearly present.
The back pressure is average but with the right pressure build-up you can still reach considerable speeds. The toot is so easy that, as you can see in the video, I almost shot over it.
Extremely suitable for slow and meditative playing.
This yiḏaki has the sound characteristics of Djuŋgirriny’, the sacred yiḏaki of the Galpu clan.
It is these characteristics that made Bära (the West Wind) blow and brought the Djuŋgirriny' to the Galpu.
And is thus comparable to the large and compelling yiḏaki that Djalu’ (Larry’s father) was known for.
